Species: Abrothallus parmotrematis

Growth type lichenicolous. Teleomorph on Parmotrema pseudoreticulatum, Commeen West, Co. Cork, SW Ireland

Superficial black ascomata, the discs convex and constricted at base, yellowish pruina often present. Spores are brown, 1-septate, (12-)13-16.5(-20) x 5-6(-7) µm, the upper cell usually shorter and broader. Micrograph below.
Anamorph pycnidial, the conidia 6-8.5(-10.5) x (3.5-)4-5(-6) µm, simple, hyaline, verruculose and with a truncate base.

Occurs on Parmotrema species, but causes little damage to host. Few Irish records, most frequent in W Scotland and SW England

Similar: Previously confused with Abrothallus microspermus which occurs on Flavoparmelia. Teleomorph rare, anamorph frequent
