Irish lichens

Species: Micarea lignaria var. endoleuca

Growth type crustose, granular.

Thallus of scattered or confluent, +/- globose whitish, bluish-grey or grey-green areoles with yellowish tinge. Black or blue-black, immarginate apothecia are convex to +/- globose. Pycnidia absent.

Occasional, on mossy, acidic rocks and trees in upland and coastal areas. Most frequently recorded from the north and west of Ireland.
