Species: Verrucaria funckii Photos: On submerged acidic rock. Ballingeary, Cork, SW Ireland. Identification very uncertain, needs confirming or correcting Smooth, uncracked pale grey-green to green-brown, subgelatinous thallus with white prothallus and dark lines separating conspecific thallii. Perithecia not or only slightly projecting, apex visible as small grey dot or exposed by abrasion to show black disc. On submerged or inundated rocks in clear upland lakes and streams. Chemical reactions negative. |
