Species: Hymenelia prevostii Photos: Kilcolman, Co. Limerick, Ireland. Thallus immersed or endolithic, pale creamy-white, fawn or pale brown. Apothecia immersed in pits, the discs concave, pinkish, translucent when wet, when dry separated from the areole by a fissure. Spores simple, 10-24(-26) × 7-17(-19) µm. Pycnidia absent. Photobiont trebouxioid so thallus scratches green. Sometimes host to Verrucaria phaeosperma (listed as a synonym of Adelococcus interlatens) Infrequent in Ireland on hard, damp, often horizontal limestone in natural situations and on church memorials.
