Growth type foliose.

Thallus irregular or forming radiating patches. Adpressed, crowded, +/- overlapping lobes are greyish-white when dry, pseudocyphellae absent. Marginal lobes widening and notched at tips, under surfaces pale whitish-brown with sparse rhizines. Abundant convex, +/- hemispherical, laminal soralia can become confluent covering centre of thallus. Apothecia are rare, discs reddish-brown.

Found on well-lit, nutrient-rich wayside trees in the south of Ireland. Cortex and medulla K+ yellow
