Thallus forms small compact, +/- erect clusters, lobes orange or yellow-orange, occasionally greyish-green, rhizines usually absent. Marginal finely-granular, blastidiate soralia extending to under surface. Orange apothecia occasional, apical, margins contorted.

Most frequently recorded from eastern side of Ireland. Occurs on nutrient-enriched tops of fence posts and gravestones, also found on bark, walls and rocks. K+ crimson / purple
