Irish lichens

Species: Cladonia crispata var. cetrariiformis

Primary thallus squamulose, secondary thallus fruticose.
Photos: On post and acid heath. Ballingeary, Cork, SW Ireland.

Small squamules followed by smooth, upright, irregularly branched brownish-grey to olive-brown podetia with pale reticulations. Axils open, margins with finger-like extensions or narrow cups that sometimes develop into one-sided tiers.

Widespread on bogs, acid heaths and also on decaying tree trunks.
Spot reactions negative, UV+ white.
