Order: Teloschistales       Family: Teloschistaceae Species: Flavoplaca maritima (Caloplaca maritima) Growth type crustose Photos: On coastal rock. Snave, Cork, SW Ireland. Very similar to Caloplaca marina but has a yellowish areolate thallus with pale yellowish-white prothallus. Numerous waxy yellowish-orange or deep-yellow apothecia. K+ crimson / purple. Probably very under-recorded but can form large patches on coastal rocks, concrete and walls. Found higher on the shoreline than Caloplaca marina and can extend slightly inland.
