Thin, +/- adpressed, brownish to olive-green thallus, usually matt but may be shiny at marins. Lower surface pale, scattered rhizines. Centre of thallus densely covered with cylindrical, often branched isidia. Apothecia very rare, margins densely isidiate.

Occurs on twigs and branches of nutrient-rich, acid-barked trees. Rare, appears to have spread from SE England, recorded from the west of Ireland. Medulla: chemical reactions negative.
