Species: Evernia prunastri Photos: On fallen deciduous twigs. Ballingeary, Cork, SW Ireland. Greyish to yellow-green strap-like thallus, patchy-white beneath. Lobes flattened, upper surface with netted ridges that can become sorediate. Dark red-brown apothecia are only rarely produced. Usually found on acid-barked deciduous trees, occasionally on fences or rocks. K+ yellow Similar: Pseudevernia furfuracea, upper surface isidiate. Ramalina farinacea, upper and lower surfaces +/- same colour. |
