Pycnothelia papillaria

Primary thallus crustose, followed by hollow podetia.
Photos: On wet rock on acid heath. Ballingeary, Cork, SW Ireland.

Primary thallus of persistent whitish-grey crustose granules. Hollow, cylindrical, simple or branched podetia tipped with dark pycnidia or brown apothecia.

Found in western Ireland on acidic peaty soils on wet moorland.
K+ yellow, UV+ blue-white
