Species: Parmeliopsis ambigua Photos: On ornamental Prunus. Ballineen, Cork, SW Ireland. Thallus to 4cm diameter with yellow-grey or greenish, flat, adpressed lobes. Lobe tips and centre of thallus become covered with powdery soredia. Underside black in centre with simple rhizines, light brown at tips without rhizines. Apothecia rare. Occurs on acid-barked trees, wood, rocks. Declining due to lower SO2 levels. Cortex: K+ very pale yellow, KC +/- yellow. Medulla: UV+ white |
